About Me

Joseph Guerra fell in love with writing at a young age. He honed his storytelling skills throughout his adolescence and his poetry and prose began being published while he was still attending high school in California. Always looking for ways to expand his creative reach Joseph took to the stage as a founding member of the Alt-Indie band The Ordeal. He transformed his creative writing abilities to a rewarding stint as a songwriter; culminating with him recording two full length LPs.

Following school Joseph set out to explore the infinite abyss and write the story of his life. He traveled the world seeing the sun rise and set over six continents and made his residence in three countries. After an extended period spent living in the South Pacific he enlisted in the United States Navy as a Mass Communication Specialist.

He received formal military training at the Defense Information School (DINFOS) and rose to the top of his class. He was recognized as the Distinguished Honor Graduate while attending the Video Production and Documentation course and Honor Graduate of the Broadcast Communication Specialist course. Joseph deployed twice to the Middle East in support of combat operations where he worked tirelessly to support the Navy’s mission.

After two arduous deployments Joseph accepted orders to the American Forces Network (AFN) at Naval Air Station Sigonella, Sicily, Italy where he furthered his production experience as a radio broadcast journalist. He quickly established himself as the premiere on-air personality bringing his unique narrative to an eager listening audience. While stationed at AFN Sigonella Joseph took on expanded leadership roles as Operations Manager and Lead Training Officer.

Never one to rest on his laurels Joseph enrolled in the Digital Cinematography Bachelor of Science (DCBS) program at Full Sail University in order to continue to develop his storytelling abilities. He excelled in the program and was invited to become a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars as well as the DCBS Mentorship program where he counseled 14 students in the program.

“The Navy provided me with a solid foundation in Audio Visual production. They taught me how to tell the Sailors story. They taught me to tell the Navy’s story,” he says. “Now, I want to take that experience and put it to work for you.”
